White Noise/Don Delillo
The novel White Noise by Don Delillo is (essentially) about the fear of death and ultimately fading away. The book cover design and collateral is meant to showcase this idea. The figure featured on the cover is an unengaged man fading into static. Type is distressed and uneven, and even the title is so faint it becomes difficult to read. These are all choices made to showcase the central theme of the novel.
